100 Things about Nathan

I want to focus on something positive and since you always hear from me I thought I would let you into a little bit of Nathan's life... Here is a little about

100 things about Nathan from Ruth's perspective

1. He is the baby of 4. He has 2 Sisters and 1 brother
2. He is brilliant
3. He is self motivated
4. He was nicknamed Nasty Nate in high school because he had some allergy issues and for a period of time was eating rice cakes and tuna fish for for his lunches. So he got the nickname of Nasty Nate from that.
5. He is a computer junkie. AKA Nerd!
6. He is married to the most beautiful women in the world!
7. He married a woman with the same name as his Mother. (odd but true)
8. He loves to make funny faces at himself in the mirror. He often reminds me of a Fooglie when do that. (Spy Kids if you haven't seen it)
9. He loves his diet coke!
10. He is a work a holic
11. He loves airplanes
12. He owns an airplane
13. He however, does not have his pilots license....yet
14. He loves building and shooting off model rockets
15. He is addicted to American Idol just like his wife
16. He served a mission to Chiclayo, Peru
17. He speaks Spanish because of that mission.
18. His favorite color is Red
19. When he was 11 he had his own little candy store, he kept "books" for it and everything. One of the mother's of the son's that bought a lot of the candy though had some issues and reported him to the Business Bureau and he was shut down at the ripe age of 11! How rude!
    
20. He collected a ton of baseball cards this way because he sold the gum and baseball card packages and if the boys already had those particular baseball cards they gave them to him.
21. He's been thirty since his 15th birthday.
    
22. He has always loved computers and is very fluent in that language
23. He and his brother and Dad own a company
24. He one day hopes to sell it and teach on a college level
25. His mother said that when he was little he use to climb on the dresser and pee on it. He swears to this day that was his brother Brett.
26. He has a nervous habit of clicking his pen non stop.
    
27. Once when he was working for the Sega arcade in the Luxor on the strip he got a flat tire in the middle of the night at like 2 am. Back then he didn't own a cell phone and a highway patrol car stopped to help him and called his parents. Needless to say it scared the crap out of his parents!
28. He got in a serious car accident back in high school while driving his Dad's car on a date. It so happened he was on a date with his Sister in laws sister. Now wouldn't that have been weird if that relationship had worked out. But it didn't. Thanks Missy! Although I am not sure that would have been much different than him marrying a girl with the same name as his Mom. J/K
    
29. He LOVES teaching the temple prep class at church and has taught it 3 or 4 times now.
    
30. He met his wife on a blind date and was sure he was marrying her when she first opened her front door and saw what he thought was Uma Thurman standing there. Well, he was right about one thing, he did marry her but her name is not Uma
31. He loves Boxer dogs and got his way and has one named Zeus!
32. He has three wonderful kids and is a fabulous father
33. He is miraculous at balancing his time with work, family and callings and all the in between stuff
34. He loves reading textbooks rather than novels (I know weird!) or should we say Nerd.
    
35. He would never accept anything less than an A. If he got anything less than an A he would argue with the teacher on why that was the case. He graduated from high school with a 4.5 or something like that.
    
36. He loves camping and cooking with fire
37. He is a fabulous cook and takes over the kitchen if the food is not heading to the table the moment he walks in the door. He doesn't mean too it is just habit for him
38. He can create a really tasty meal out of nothing
39. He likes Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia icecream
40. His favorite fast food would probably be Capriatti's "Bobby" sandwich. The famous after Thanksgiving Turkey sandwich.
41. He is NOT a morning person
42. He proposed to his wife on a hill behind the Las Vegas temple by kneeling on rocks and reading her a story/poem he wrote about her.
43. He isn't much of a sports fan but if UNLV is playing against Utah he likes a little heated competition against his own family. (His dad and sisters graduated from the U and he graduated from UNLV)
44. He has lost 27 pounds since January
    
45. He loves to play "Monster" with the kids at night. It the best time of day for the kids. If Daddy is gone they are sad because they love the "Monster"
46. He graduated with his Bachelors and Masters from UNLV
47. He hopes to get his pilots license very soon and then eventually get his PHD
48. He started his business with his brother and Dad when he was still in high school at the age of 17 because he wasn't 18 he could not be President so his Brother was President until he took over a "sister" company.
    
49. He loves Penguins
50. He likes snickerdoodles.
51. His favorite food is Spatzle ( a german noodle made with roast)
52. He won't eat Roast with potatoes, he will only eat it with Spatzle and Knoedle (a German dumpling)
53. He has German heritage can you tell? (His mother is full blood German)
54. He is blonde
55. He has blue eyes
56. He stands about 5'8"
57. He wants to fly a jet one day
58. His wife ruined his 30th birthday because that is what he wanted but they couldn't afford it. ($850.00 for a one hour flight and a t-shirt) plus travel costs because they sure don't do that here.
59. He had a mid-life crisis after his wife's open heart surgery last year and bought a convertible mustang GT.
    
60. He no longer owns it.
61. He graduated from Silverado High School
62. He also went to Valley High School
63. He was pretty popular being a nerd and all
64. His friends were mostly girls and were on the drill and team and such.
    
65. He is still in contact with some of them and his wife likes them too.
66. He can't sleep on the wrong side of the bed. Meaning even on vacation he must have the left side of the bed (looking at the bed)
67. He can't and won't sleep well if the sheets are wrinkled or not put on correctly. Sigh..
68. He is a perfectionist
69. He is very giving and cares about everyone he meets
70. He knows how to play the piano (although not well he can play it)
71. He sings better than he gives himself credit for
72. His sisters' use to dress him up like a girl when he was a kid
73. Nathan was born on his Father's birthday
74. He has a great respect for his Opa Hug (Grandpa).
75. His middle name is Hug along with his Brother, his nephews and his son Noah (a tradition in the family to carry on the name...his mother was the only child)
76. He once wanted to go so bad with his Dad to the store that he ran after him behind the car until he reached the end of the street and didn't get his way (now I know where Noah gets his temper tantrums.)
77. When he was younger he bit on an electrical cord and blew out his lip
78. Back when he started college he was the youngest to enter the honors college at UNLV
79. He is still scarred to this day that his parents refused to let him graduate High School early.
80. He was never been able to sit still, to this day if you watch him in church his foot will still be bouncing.
81. Nathan's "addiction" to computers started at the age of 8
82. He loves loves loves X-Files!
83. He also loves Star Wars and I believe has the entire sets (if not I better get on it)
    
84. If he has extra money to spend he is always getting the latest in CD's
85. Don't be fooled he loves female artists but wouldn't be caught dead listening to them while he is in a convertible with the hood down. LOL!
86. Some of his secret female artists he likes are: Jewel, Natalie Merchant, Fiona Apple, Kelly Clarkson, Nora Jones, Michelle Branch, and others...
87. Some of the other music he likes is currently FlyLeaf, Lifehouse (which I may steal and never give back) and he likes John Mayer, 10000 Maniacs etc... he is a CD junky!
88. If he could go on vacation anywhere I think his first pick would be to go back to Peru and visit.
    
89. For a true vacation though I think he would like to go back to Hawaii
90. Nathan really dislikes Spagetti (he will eat it) but he had it so much as a kid he is done with it.
91. He LOVES rice a roni (the chicken flavor)
92. He had sooo much rice on his mission that if he eats plain white rice he has to have a sauce of some sort to go over the top
93. On his mission he ate Guinea Pig! YUK!
94. He refused to eat Cow intenstines on his mission and can we blame him!
95. He was very ill for a time on his mission and thus served in the mission office, he said that is one place he learned TOO much about what went on in the mission.
96. Nathan met his wife (me) because he set his friend Eden up with her husband Jared (see our website for the full story) but Eden had to pay him back by setting him up and he got me...Lucky him!....no wait Lucky ME! (no sarcasm to that statement by the way) that is the truth!
97. If he had a day to not worry about work and do what he wanted to he would spend it reading textbooks on airplanes, looking at model homes and spending time with his family
98. Nathan is allergic to cats
99. Nathan's first job was at the Sega Arcade in the Luxor Hotel.
100. Nathan is infamous for highlighting while reading the computer screen. It is a hoot to watch.
